GAiN seminar during Fireseeds

Influencing hearts
and minds

Earlier in the year, GAiN UK were invited to be part of Agapé UK’s national student conference. Emma and Caitlin went to represent GAiN to students from across the UK. Read about how Emma got on below:

The conference was my first opportunity to give a presentation about my work with GAiN in person. It was such a joy to meet people face-to-face! We had a stand all weekend where we gave out flyers and took the opportunity to chat to students, while we also led a 30-minute seminar slot on the Sunday. During the seminar, Caitlin and I shared our vision for GAiN to reveal hope and restore life, particularly among those in crisis and poverty in Europe. The theme of the conference was “Reconciled to reconcile”, and so we spoke too about how Jesus lived out his heart for those who were broken and needy in his life and ministry, whether their needs were spiritual, physical, emotional, or relational.

The week before the conference, we had just returned from a visit to our partner in Serbia and so we were able to share some stories of the people we met and their experiences. One really cool part for us was that some of the students had been involved in packing boxes at the containers in Birmingham that had been sent out to Serbia at Christmas. These students really enjoyed hearing more of where those boxes went and how their small efforts had a big impact on lives in Serbia.

I loved seeing how motivated these students were – some even brought bags of clothes to donate. One guy from Cambridge is feeling competitive and wants to see if anyone can top his group’s record of packing 110 boxes in an afternoon! Are you up for the challenge?”

We love getting to share our heart with others and to see people in the UK get involved! Let us know  (info@globalaidnetwork.org.uk) if you would like us to come speak to your group, friends or church about GAiN and how you can be a part of caring for the poor and those in crisis across the world.
